Tree Toys

While I was running around with the candy cane I'd pulled off the tree Dylan was caught playing with an edible Christmas bauble. Unfortunately he didn't distract bunmum long enough and I was forced to give up the candy cane.

A little smoothie

I've discovered I like fruit smoothies but apparently that's also naughty behaviour for a rabbit. Will I ever get it right?

You will notice that, instead of helping me in my minute of need, bunmum got the camera out.

Carrot

I just don't know why but this carrot reminds me of someone.

Ok, so the new camera was exciting. Enough already!
Ok, Ok, one more pose - but only for some carrot?

Chillin'

Our life is great. Especially with no other rabbits to annoy us.
Just us. Waiting for dinner and a good treat.

New Box

Bunmum gave us a fabulous new cardboard box this week,
she created a door and a cool sun roof for us.

New Mystery

We've looked everywhere and simply can't find Dylan's second ear.
It's a mystery.
We aren't very impressed.

New Camera

Phew, bunmums camera broke and she couldn't give Pepper any photos for her blog, luckily she now has a new one and she's already bugging us trying to get lots of new material.

Check out the latest photo of me, I'm handsome aren't I? And you might also notice that Pepper still has a red stripe on her bottom. Haha. It'll disappear eventually.

Dylan Seeks Attention

There are two water bottles in our pen, but oh no, Dylan has to sit whereever I sit.
This is getting rediculous!

Big Trouble

Oh dear, Bunmum was less than happy at me today. She was bunnyproofing her newly decorated room and had put plastic covers on wires on the walls. When she decided to paint them I insisted on helping her. I have no idea why she got so angry about it, it was just a little paint. I suppose getting it all over me and running around the room might have been her problem. It's on my whiskers, my ear and I now have a lovely red racing stripe down one side of me. Bunmum says I'll just have to live with it for a while because it's not brushing out.

Brambles picture

Bunmum insisted that I show you her favourite picture of Brambles. I suppose she does look a little cute. But of course not as cute as Dylan and I.

Lazy!

When bunmum came to take Brambles back to her owner she thought Brambles was ill. What a panic. But no, Brambles was fine, just very very lazy.

Brambles Says Goodbye

Hello, I'm Brambles. I've been staying here for a few weeks while my bundad is on holiday. He's home now and hopes that I will have enjoyed myself so much that I want to stay here with Pepper and Dylan. Unfortunately Dylan bites me and Pepper tries to frighten me. I visit their pen every day, keeping a safe distance usually, but they don't give me much of a friendly welcome. So I'm going home to bundad in the hope that he finds me another friend.

I'm very tired now so I'm going to rest my eyes here before my trip home. Goodbye.

Googling

During a random google search bunmum typed in 'Pepper Rabbit' and this is what she got:

It's a little bit scary if you ask me so I'm not too impressed. There is definately no likeness here at all, even when Brambles is around I don't look this grumpy. I am much cuter!

Radioactive Rabbits

Yesterday the New York Times reported that in Hanford (central Washington state), where plutonium was once produced, the federal government has just spent millions of dollars mapping radioactive rabbit feces by helicopter so that it can be cleaned up and disposed of as radioactive waste.

The feces was found in areas previously uncontaminated but the local rabbits had burrowed through contaminated grounds. According to the New York Times 'Anything that hops, burrows, buzzes, crawls or grazes near a nuclear weapons plant may be capable of setting off a Geiger counter. And at the Hanford nuclear reservation, one of the dirtiest of them all, its droppings alone might be enough to trigger alarms.'

We have had a boring day today as bunmum and bundad had to go to a funeral and were gone all day. It was restful and as bunmum had covered up some of Brambles' cage we couldn't see her to give her the death stares we have practiced.

Now that they are home we have some time to stretch our legs before we get our food, this is our favourite time of the day. Unfortunately, since Brambles got here this part of the day sometimes gets cut short as we are sent back to our pens early and then Brambles is allowed to roam our room. She didn't bother us last night, she just explored and then sat right outside our pen. Dylan and I got into death stare mode but she didn't notice. So things were quite quiet.

By the way, don't you think red suits me?!

Dylan's War

A few days after the arrival of Brambles bunmum observed that Dylan and Brambles did not speak to each other through the cage bars and quite simply weren't bothered by each other. This suited me. But for some reason bunmum felt that it would be nice for Dylan and Brambles to get to know each other. He was allowed out of the pen and I remained locked in.
Brambles was also allowed out of her cage which at this point was at the other end of our newly decorated room.

At first they ignored each other, then they sniffed each other, then they went off together and hid behind the couch. I was mystified.
They had a chat for what seemed like forever and then they came out for another wander around. Bundad appeared on the scene and bunmum seemed to be sighing relief, everyone was watching Brambles. She gets ALL the attention.
What happened next could only be discribed as terrifying. Brambles jumped back into her cage and despite bunmums protests Dylan happily followed. WELL, Brambles didn't like this. She went mad at him and all of a sudden all you could see was a blurry mass of fast moving brown fur as Brambles and Dylan fought. Bunmum was shouting 'Brambles', 'Dylan' and she threw open the top of the cage but she didn't know what to do. So bundad stepped in and grabbed the first rabbit he could get his hands on. It happened to be Dylan, with Brambles attached by the teeth. Brambles flew across the room and landed on our plastic hay box with a clump of Dylan's fur still in her mouth. Oh it was awful.
Dylan was given lots of treats and was checked all over for bite marks or scuffs, luckily he was unharmed. But he's not in a hurry to speak to Brambles again. Brambles was also unharmed and had a sleep in her cage for the rest of the afternoon.
He should've listened to me!

Decorating

Bunmum had the week off so she decided this was the time to decorate our room, well, she called it the 'living room'. So all of us were packed away outside wherewe couldn't breath in fumes. I thought this would be great until I discovered what was to happen. Brambles got to stay in the hutch and Dylan and I were resigned to the run with the washing hanging over us. This was so unfair!

Busy Bunny

Oh dear I haven't posted anything for a while. It's been so hectic and I've had to be so busy defending my territory! Oh there are tales to tell, a week in the life of Pepper and Dylan, so I will start from the beginning.

Brambles! Yes she is a rabbit, a big fat one and we don't like her! She arrived on a Friday night in her own cage where she stayed for the whole night. Bunmum said to be nice to her and she let Dylan and I out of our pen to go and say hello.
She was very nervous and kept jumping when we bumped noses, and then after a while of sniffing at us she just lay down. How rude!
So we jumped about a bit and asserted our dominance in the best way we could. We got on her roof and rained down on her with poops. You think I'm not nice, but it's necessary for me to show newcomers that I am and always will be the boss.
When she came back to see me we had a scrap through the bars. Bunmum kept seperating us but we kept on trying. So Dylan and I were told to return to our pen where bunmum could keep an eye on us and Brambles could have a rest.

Bunny Huddle

I love this picture which has just appeared on http://www.dailybunny.com/.
Look at these rabbits hard at work, possibly conspiring agains the world, or maybe they are trying to decide who should ask for more dinner?.

Munchkin Award

Dylan and I are delighted and honoured to have received the Munchkin Award. This award aims to promote educational and responsible rabbit care in the community.

They e-mailed us to say: 'How lovely!! Pepper's blog is wonderful and so fabulous to see photos & read all about happy house bunnies. Pepper & Dylan are very lucky bunnies.'

Is chaos ahead?

Bunmum is up to something. Bundad tells us we make a lot of mess. Bunmum seems to be looking for a solution to keep our mess in one place as we tend to trail hay all over the living room. But some things still don't add up.

Bunmum created a new pen for us with our old house rabbit tray and a new hay rack (which we demolished immediately) and all the while she was saying if Brambles stays she'll need to make it bigger. That confirms that Brambles MUST be a rabbit.

What's more she painted this funny colour on the wall and then just left it as a patch in the corner. It looks daft, so I'm thinking there's more to come. Hmmmmm...

Dylan helping bunmum

Dylan decided to be extra friendly today and assisted bunmum with the cleaning. There was lots to do and bunmum was so so busy that she just left Dylan to do his jobs by himself. I thought this was very unusual and I just had to investigate, so I followed the trail through the dust. And sure enough, I found him skiving behind the sofa where he thought he wouldn't be found!

Oh yes, I know all the tricks in the book.

Winter

Winter is coming, it's darker at night and darker in the morning. When bunmum puts us outside in our run we shiver a little and when we come back indoors we seem to loose a lot of hair. But we are happy and that's what matters.

Bunmum has been painting the living room walls today, she hasn't figured out yet which one of us it was but she's just finished wiping our painted paw prints off the floor. Whoops. She's gone for a bright red colour but only done a little patch so it looks silly.

There's also talk of Brambles, whatever that is. Brambles is coming to stay, perhaps Brambles is a rabbit. hmmm I hope not, this is MY home and I'm in charge around here.

Dylan's Birthday Pics

We had a marvelous night yesterday. Celebrating Dylan's second birthday bunmum produced a platter of treats for us to munch on. Delightful!

So we munched and we munched.

Our New Palace

Bunmum was busy building this week and last night we were introduced to the result. Let us give you the tour.

This is the outside view, nice size huh?

This is our bathroom, my toungue is out because Dylan is trying to convince me to try the ramp. I don't like the ramp but I'm getting better using it.

Dylan is demonstrating the bedroom, he doesn't like the fleece though and shortly will push it out completely.

This is our viewing platform and Dylan thinks it's too high for us. He's frightened of everything though so it's not such a surprise.

Best of all, we can sit in the sun but hide in the shade if we want to.

Last night we spent our first night out in the hutch. Bunmum is such a worrier that she came to visit is at 4am! We were fine and Dylan was delighted that she didn't take us back inside, I think it might take longer for me to get used to it. Lucky for us we spent all day in the house with bunmum and her visitors eating treats and entertaining the humans. It's been lovely.

Dylan's Delight

When we arrived back to our home in Montrose we were delighted after the long car ride home. Dylan was so delighted he actually climbed up onto our hay rack and made himself comfortable to chew to his hearts delight.

While in Oban continued

While in Oban Dylan became very good at avoiding the camera and bunmum discovered that he can be pretty fast when there's a carpet for him to grip to.

Every night in Oban bunmum could be found running round and round the chimney trying to catch Dylan to take him back to our cage which was outside in a covered area.
The weather was great for us so we didn't get cold and bungran covered our cage every night in case the neighbours cat decided to visit us.
